Shirley L. Cummings,
of Reserve Township, passed away peacefully surrounded by her family on March 9, 2026. She is now reunited in heaven with her beloved husband, Paul Cummings, after spending four decades apart.
Shirley was the loving daughter of the late William and Marion Kohler and the dear sister of Leah Ramsey, Florence McCallister, and Marilyn Luft.
She is survived by her two children, Glenn Cummings (Lorraine Milovac) and Lynn Dempsey (Mark Kessler), and was preceded in death by Lynn’s husband, Don Dempsey. Shirley was a proud and devoted Grammie to Jason Dempsey, Derek Dempsey (Nancy), and Lauren Dysert (Ethan), and a cherished great-Grammie to Wayne, Luke, and Ella Dempsey.
Shirley spent much of her working life as a secretary at Heinz, where she dedicated many years before retiring. Throughout her life, she faced and overcame numerous hardships with quiet strength and resilience, including a courageous and successful battle against breast cancer.
In the final years of her life, Shirley found joy in life’s simple treasures—watchingthe Penguin hockey games with her son Glenn, celebrating holidays surrounded by family, and delighting in watching her great-grandchildren grow and thrive.
Shirley leaves behind a legacy of kindness, warmth, and genuine goodness. Her gentle smile and loving spirit will be deeply missed by all whose lives she touched.
