Robert Barnard Johnson, 93, passed away peacefully on May 17, 2026, at Canterbury Place Long-Term Care Facility in Lawrenceville, Pennsylvania. He had been a resident of Canterbury Place for nearly ten years and was beloved by both staff and fellow residents.
Born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, Robert was the son of William and Leoda (Bohannon) Johnson. Throughout his life, he was known for his many talents and dedication to serving others. He was a gifted musician, worked in emergency medical services, and proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War. In recognition of wounds received in combat, he was awarded the Purple Heart.
A loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, veteran, and friend, Robert touched many lives through his service, kindness, and devotion to family.
Robert was preceded in death by his wives, Aurelia M. Dickerson and Mary Jo Johnson; his daughter, Deborah "Bunny" Stevens; his stepdaughter, Michele Schultz; and his great-grandson, Jayden Turpin, and his siblings Kathryn Nolan, Jane Brisco, Belle Veal, and Bill Johnson.
He is survived by his beloved daughter, Barbara Patterson; his grandchildren, Olivia Stevens and Alex Stevens (wife, Bria), children of Deborah "Bunny" Stevens, and Michael Patterson, Morgan Patterson, and Jordan Patterson, children of Barbara Patterson; and his great-grandchildren, Skye Easley, Ariyah Page, and Gianna Pieretti. Also a host of nieces and nephews.
A graveside service with military honors will be held on Thursday, June 18, 2026, at 2:00 p.m. at the National Cemetery of the Alleghenies.
