“I was born on an iceberg in the Arctic Circle. . . ”

Odd’s journey in life began on a Norwegian island nestled in the Arctic Circle. Departing his familial shores during his early teenage years, he embarked upon a seafaring existence with the merchant marines, navigating the world's oceans for more than a decade. He went on to establish roots and a family of his own in the United States, living in Philadelphia first, then Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. He worked as an industrial painter for years but went on to amass his wealth in the real estate/rental industry, a legacy that his children and the generations following will benefit from.

"I'm doing this so you girls have something . . . ”

Odd was a diligent, resourceful, and inventive individual. He purchased and renovated houses before DIY became popular—and he completed all the work independently (with the assistance of some little helpers). Despite the resources at hand or the difficulty of situations, he always managed to resolve problems with lasting solutions. Odd took great pride in his accomplishments, especially when they required more than the usual ingenuity to complete. He felt a sense of achievement in knowing that he was able to provide for his family.

“I dreamt of St. Peter at the pearly gates of Heaven…”

Odd was a true fighter, devoted to ensuring the well-being and future of his family, as well as preserving his health and independence. Throughout the last decade, he confronted and triumphed over a series of health challenges, including heart issues, lung cancer, stroke, pneumonia, and even COVID. Remarkably, not only did he conquer these adversities, but he thrived, persisting in his life, work, and enjoyment of every moment. He often lightened the gravity of his health struggles with humor, joking that he dreamt of standing at the pearly gates with Saint Peter awaiting him, only to tell Peter, "I still have work to do." However, this time, St. Peter welcomed him home.
