Mary Regina Cawley

Mary Jean "Jean" Cawley, born August 15, 1949, passed away peacefully on June 21, 2026, surrounded by the love of her family and friends.

Jean was preceded in death by her father, Paul Schirra; her mother, Helen Schirra; and her sister, Judy Ferrari.

She leaves behind her devoted husband, Wayne Cawley; her beloved daughters, Ida Nieves and Christina Caldwell; her son-in-law, Jon Caldwell; her cherished granddaughter, Marissa, and her husband, Brendon; her grandsons, Julio and Antonio; her brothers, Paul and Mark; and her sisters, Elaine, Joanne, and Helen. She also leaves behind many extended family members, friends, and loved ones who will miss her dearly.

Known to most family members and friends simply as Jean, she was a loving wife, devoted mother, grandmother, sister, and friend. Before meeting her husband Wayne, Jean courageously raised her first daughter, Ida, on her own. Together, Jean and Wayne built a loving family and welcomed their daughter Christina. Jean dedicated herself to being a stay-at-home mother, pouring her heart into raising her girls and creating a warm and loving home.

Jean found joy in life's simple pleasures. She loved crafting, playing bingo, and spending time outdoors. Whether she was working on a craft project, enjoying a game of bingo, or simply appreciating nature, she embraced life with enthusiasm. She was known for her sweet and gentle nature, but those who knew her best also appreciated her feisty spirit and determination when the situation called for it.

For more than ten years, Jean received compassionate support through Community LIFE, which allowed her to remain in the comfort of her home for as long as possible as her health declined. During the final nine months of her life, she resided at Reformed Presbyterian Home, where she received exceptional care and support from the dedicated staff.

Jean's greatest legacy is the love she shared with her family. She treasured time spent with her loved ones, especially her granddaughter Marissa and grandsons Julio and Antonio, and was proud of the family she helped build through her strength, dedication, and unconditional love.

Jean will be cremated, and her ashes will be spread in the mountains where she and Wayne spent cherished time together with their children, creating memories that will live on in the hearts of those who loved her.

A small cookout celebration of Jean's life will be held with family and friends later this fall. Her family looks forward to gathering together to share stories, laughter, and memories in honor of the remarkable woman she was.

Though our hearts are heavy with sorrow, we take comfort in the many cherished memories she leaves behind and the lasting impact she made on the lives of all who knew her. Her kindness, strength, warmth, and unwavering devotion to those she loved will never be forgotten.
