(FAFATA)

 Of Spring Hill, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2020 surrounded by her family in the home she was born in 87 years prior.

Jean loved her neighborhood on Pittsburgh, PA’s North Side known as Spring Hill where she grew up with her sisters and brother; Dot, Ruth and Joe. Jean lived her entire life in that neighborhood. She always told stories that included so many good friends and memories; like her tap dancing at the public school and getting water from the spring.

Jean was a devoted mother that was very proud of her three children. She worked multiple jobs to support and provide for her family. Her pride expanded with love for all of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Jean was an excellent cook and loved to bake. The most requested family favorite was her delicious Apple Pie. She baked bread with her wonderful caregivers up until a few weeks ago! She loved all her dogs especially Ducey who stayed with her until her passing. She also liked to play cards, bingo, and watch the Pirates, Penguins and Steeler games. Jean often amazed her children with her hidden talent; she could play music by ear. Any song she heard, she could play on the piano.

Jean always told her family to be kind, “If you do not have anything nice to say about someone; do not say anything at all”. She always commented how lucky and blessed we are. She expressed gratitude for her family and many others who were so good to her. 

Jean was preceded in death by her mother Catherine Fafata (Geubtner), father Joseph Fafata, brother Joe Fafata, sisters Dorothy and Ruth Fafata. She is survived by her three children and their spouses; Matt and Inez Miller, Beth and George Neiman, Janice (Cookie) and Arthur Beatty; her eight grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. 

Funeral services will be held Monday, August 24th; private family viewing followed by a Catholic Mass St. Boniface Church, 11:00AM.
