Howard Matthew Veater

Howard Matthew (Matt) Veater 44, of North Huntingdon, PA, passed away suddenly on August 2, 2025. Matt lived in Salt Lake City, UT and Palmdale, CA for much of his life. Matt, born May 10,1981 in Murray, UT, preceded in death by his maternal grandparents Dallas and Shirlene Nielsen of Torrance, CA and his paternal grandparents Clair and Ann Marie Mortensen of West Jordan, UT whom he spent much of his youth with. Matt is survived by his mother Llewelyn Nielsen of Laguna Niguel, CA; his father Howard L Veater and his longtime partner Beverly of Fairport, NY, and also his children: Ayla Ann Veater, age 15, of Kennewick, WA; Matthew Callaway Veater, age 6, of Claridge, PA, and siblings: Desta Silva of ID; Kyra Farag of CA and Scott Veater of CO, as well as other family members including aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Matt loved being a dad and his children meant the world to him. He loved them very much. He was also a very forgiving and caring brother to his siblings.

Matt was an employee of Waste Management in Elizabeth township PA for the last 4 years, and was known for being a prompt employee, a hard worker, and a great friend to his coworkers. As a youth he loved to play volleyball on the court with his dad. Matt enjoyed spending time outdoors going camping and fishing. Matt collected comics and diverse types of trading cards. Matt had many friends in many states and made sure to stay connected with them over the years. Matt would do anything for anyone. Matt was loved by many who knew him. He was simple, yet quiet and caring. Matt will be greatly missed by those who loved him. He will live in our hearts forever.

Private memorial services will be made by various family members in different states.Specific dates and details are yet to be decided.
