Our beloved sister, Helen A. Lazar transitioned on September 14, 2021. She was born in 1943 in the city of Pittsburgh and lived there most of her life.
Helen taught in the city schools for 30 years when she retired. After retirement she took her passion on the road, playing her piano for weddings, retirement parties and social gatherings. Helen’s “fur babies,” Westies, were her children. Her first Westie was named Kuklos Mou, meaning My Doll in Greek. She frequently attended the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church, in the North Hills and Orchard Hill Christian Church in Wexford. Helen, for 35 years, was a dedicated member of AA. “You must work the program,” were her words of wisdom, “if you wanted a balanced life.”
Helen’s loving parents, Charles J. Lazar and Ann Lazar predeceased her. As well as her loving nephew, Jimmy Lazar. Helen’s boyfriend/partner, Charles Carl, died one month after Helen, both from cancer. Surviving family members: brother Charles Lazar and sister-in-law Joanne Lazar, sister Jeanie Lazar, Uncle William Lazar and his wife Sally Lazar, nephews and nieces listed from oldest to youngest: Charles Lazar, Joanne Winsell, Chrisanne Lazar and Charles J. Robinson, great nephew Christopher, great niece Katrina, a great-grand nephew and two great-grand nieces, and nine cousins.
We will forever miss her and carry her music in our hearts.
