Geraldine Laura Smythe

Gerry Smythe, devoted mother of Laura and David Smythe, has passed away quietly in her sleep on Jan 24, 2026 from Liver cancer.

Gerry is often spoken highly of by the neighbors of the community of Troy Hill as optimizing all the qualities of what this community stands for:

Born Feb. 20,1939 Gerry served as a Sunday school teacher for Grace Lutheran Church, teaching primary age children and teens about the Bible and what it meant to follow God by putting the needs of others before herself, as she was often seen giving of her time and talent whether helping a neighbor with their taxes, caring for neighbors and family who were in bad health, or in simply picking up trash in the neighborhood.

She is survived by her brother Herman Boehmig. No funeral or viewings will be had as it was her wish to be cremated and her ashes buried in the backyard of the house she lived in with her husband, David (Deceased) who served the City of Pittsburgh for 26 years as a City Firefighter with Engine CO. 33 and her children.
