Hoffman, Gary B. (04/03/56 – 11/22/25)
Preceded in death by his parents Frank and Nell (Burnsworth) Hoffman and siblings Eric and Janice. He was a father to Keri, late Cody; Janice, late Sean, Kasey (Jason), and Frank. Stepfather to the late Samantha (Randy). Proud grandfather of Jayden, Kash, Alexis, Alyssa, Kamden, Klover, Aiden, Ashlyn, Antonio, Axel, and Rikki. Proud great grandfather to Jordan.
Born in North Side and raised in Shaler. He honorably served in the United States Marine Corps for eleven (11) years. His service included military police, communication specialist, chief radio operator, and sharpshooter. The military allowed Gary to visit Japan, Panama, Philippines, and South Korea. After his honorable discharge he became a jack of many trades but was known for his love of being a constable, mechanic, and lead officer at the Arc House.
As a result of his military experience, Gary was an avid gun collector. He raced cars in Japan and became a car buff (Mazda, GTO, & Grand Am). Throughout his life he enjoyed his recreational pharmaceutical enterprise. Later in life, he spent many hours watching sports while hanging out with his family, especially UFC & football. When no one was around you would find him watching the western channel with the volume at 90. He was always up for salmon patties and apple pie made with loving care by his girls.
Gary’s definition of family extended far past bloodlines.
The family would like to thank the medical teams at the Southwestern Veterans Center and UPMC Shadyside for their care.
Visitation will be held this Friday from 2-6pm with blessing service and military honors at Stephen M. Brady Funeral Home Inc. 920 Cedar Avenue
