Erica Montgomery Obituary

Erica LaShawn Montgomery, 52, was born in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania to Denise Montgomery on Wednesday, April 19, 1972. She peacefully transitioned into eternal life on Friday, July 12, 2024.

Erica belonged to a huge and loving family. She matriculated through the Pittsburgh Public School System where she received her High School Diploma from David B. Oliver High in June 1990. She went on to obtain an Associate’s degree from Western School of Health and Business Careers. Erica was dedicated and committed to her profession as a phlebotomist. Her loving and empathetic nature allowed her to flourish in this career. Her journey began working over 10 years for the Mercy Health System, 15 plus years with The Central Blood Bank and prior to her illness she served her patients at UPMC Children’s Hospital.

Growing up Erica enjoyed cheerleading and dance. She was on the mini Globettes cheerleading team as well as the mini Globe Steppers dance team while attending Margaret Milliones Middle School. She was also a cheerleader for the Oliver Bears and active in JROTC.

Erica’s first love is her children, grandchildren, and family. Erica enjoyed gardening, watching movies, and listening to music. Mary J. Blige’s “Good Morning Gorgeous,” helped her through tough times and situations. Erica also loved watching sports and she will be best remembered as a die-hard Steeler fan. She will be missed on football Sunday decked out in her Steelers gear, crazy hats, sponge hand, and terrible towel.

Ultimately, Erica’s love of God led her to the doors of Second Baptist Church where she was active as a youth instructor, was involved in the women’s fellowship, and had a special love for praise and worship.

Erica was preceded in death by her grandparents Luther and Doris Montgomery and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins. Our dear Erica leaves to cherish her memory, her mother, Denise Montgomery, brothers Darnell (Rashida) Montgomery and Robert Jones, sister, Tanika Crawley, Eric Montgomery (son), Marquis McNary (son), DeVaughn McNary (son), Kiarra Montgomery (daughter), grandchildren Marquis “Junebug” McNary, Darius Lindsey, and Cashton King, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and a host of family and friends.
