He also instructed sailing and swim lessons at a variety of places across the United States. Living his faith, Father Ed saw God in every person he met and strived to show mercy and understanding. In the last chapter of his life, Father Ed committed to the care of the imprisoned through work at the Allegheny Jail and the Public Defenders office as a social worker. He is predeceased by his loving father and mother, Edward Wagner and Mary Browne, and his devoted sister Deborah Wagner. He is survived by his loving nieces, Amy Gealy and Michelle Gealy-Arthur.
