Obituary

Father Edward G. Wagner

Age 67, passed away in his sleep on Monday December 12, 2022 of Pittsburgh, PA.  A lifelong scholar, Edward graduated from LaRoche with a B.S. in sociology, St Mary's Seminary with a Master in Social Work and the University of Maryland with a Doctorate in Ministry. When he was diagnosed with diabetes at age 16 he was told he would not live to see 30. Through faith, medicine, and the support of his family he lived a long and inspired life. As a member of the Trinitarian Order, Father Ed found his calling in teaching where he guided young minds at Maryvale Preparatory School in Baltimore, MD and Bishop Gorman High School in Las Vegas, NV. He also instructed sailing and swim lessons at a variety of places across the United States. Living his faith, Father Ed saw God in every person he met and strived to show mercy and understanding. In the last chapter of his life, Father Ed committed to the care of the imprisoned through work at the Allegheny Jail and the Public Defenders office as a social worker. He is predeceased by his loving father and mother, Edward Wagner and Mary Browne, and his devoted sister Deborah Wagner. He is survived by his loving nieces, Amy Gealy and Michelle Gealy-Arthur.
