Duane A. “Dewey” Herman
Passed away on Sunday November 10,2024 at age 63, one day shy of his 64th birthday. He was born and spent his whole life in Spring Hill on the North Side.
Predeceased by his parents David “Bucky” and Claire (Dorsch) Herman
He is survived by his wife Mary (Kreuzer) Herman, and his daughters
Kelly Sue and Kailey Anne
Brother of David, Denise (Bruce), Doug (the late Patti), and Darren ( the late Karen).
He will also be missed by his aunts, uncles, cousins, nephews, nieces, and especially his dog Max.
He was a proud Journeyman for Sheet Metal Union Local #12 for 31 years, whose sheet metal work and roofing can be seen across the city including at St. Boniface Church, Little Sisters of the Poor, the Allegheny County Courthouse, the original Carnegie Library, Spring Hill Elementary, and St Paul Cathedral.
He was an avid hunter for many years who could be happily found drinking Budweiser around the fire at his camp, and back in the day loafing with the Jones's (if you know, you know). He liked body surfing the waves at Emerald Isle beach vacations, skiing downhill faster than anybody else in the group, or taking a thousand photos on cross-country road trips. He loved nature very much, and was a loving dog owner his whole life.
Duane put in a great time on this planet. He is now relieved from the burden of ALS and free to wander the universe. May we always remember him wishing us "Happy Days!"
In lieu of flowers, the family asks donations be made to the local ALS foundation chapter: 416 Lincoln Ave, Millvale, PA 15209 http:web.alsa.org/goto/duaneherman
As per his wishes there will be NO VISITATION for Duane. Private burial will be held at Penn Forest Natural Burial Park.
A Celebration of his life will be held later this month.
