Carolyn F. McClung Obituary
Carolyn Ford McClung, affectionately called “Gram” by most of the family, and the grandchildren’s friends, was born on February 20, 1937 to the late Beatrice Ford. Carolyn grew up on the North Side of Pittsburgh and was educated through the Pittsburgh Public School system. She attended Columbus Middle School, then went to Oliver High School (Go Bears!), where she graduated in 1955. During that time, she actively participated in volleyball, basketball, and the school choir. On August 25th 1956, Carolyn wed the late Richard J. McClung Sr. From that union three beautiful children were born, Richard J. McClung Jr., Janice E. McClung, and Patricia “Trish” D. McClung.
Carolyn was a stay at home mother who did in-home childcare for some of the neighborhood children. Years later, she then went on to do adult home healthcare for P.R.N. Healthcare Services where she worked until she retired. She gave her all to her clients, as she would her family. They all loved and respected her for the care and companionship she provided. She went above and beyond for them all.
Gram had a warm and compassionate soul and always enjoyed having the family around, especially for birthdays and holidays. She would always let you know that the best part of her birthday was eating cake and opening her presents. It was her day and she made sure to bask in the showering of gifts. Shopping was one of Gram’s passions, whether it was in store or on QVC. She would listen on the TV to see if they announced her name while ordering. She ordered so much that the delivery guy knew her by name! Gram loved to cook, bake, do puzzles, care for her pets, and play card games like tonk, spades, and bid whist on weekends with friends or family.
Carolyn had many friends, most of which preceded her in death. Sadly, on January 29th she was called home to be with the Lord while being comforted her daughter Patricia. Carolyn is survived by, her 3 children, Richard Jr, Janice, and Patricia; 8 grandchildren, Ja’Nelle McClung, Tanisha Worthy, Ashley Worthy, JayVon McClung, Jordan McClung, Patrick McClung, Dominick McClung, and Devin McClung; 13 great grandchildren; and a host of family and friends. She truly will be missed by all that knew and loved her!
