Bernadette Lane Obituary

Bernadette was a devoted mother to her son Bruce, his wife Chris, daughter Corinne, and her husband James Hoy. She also cherished her role as a step grandmother to Neil, wife Kattie, and Sarah Pierson, husband Roy. Her grandniece, Randi Hoy also held a special place in her heart since they shared a love of travel. Her joy continued to grow with the arrival of her great-grandchildren: Mox and Lucy, R.J., and Robyn. Each of them held a special place in her heart, and she was deeply proud of the family she helped nurture. She is preceded in death by her parents Joseph Grochalski and Bernice (Zakrzewski) Grochalski.
Bernadette's love for life and adventure began early. As a child, she found wonder in the pages of National Geographic magazines, igniting a passion for travel that would stay with her throughout her life. In later years, she made that passion her career, becoming a travel agent and exploring the world with curiosity and enthusiasm. From bustling cities to tranquil landscapes, Bernadette’s travels were not just about seeing new places but connecting with people and cultures along the way.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, Bernadette learned to drive at the age of 40, embracing her newfound independence and the freedom to go wherever her heart led. She was known for her infectious sense of humor, her ability to make friends easily, and her natural talent for putting others at ease. Bernadette had a rare gift for making everyone feel welcome and valued, and her lighthearted spirit will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Everyone is welcome to celebrate Bernadette’s life on Tuesday April 1, 2025 from 2-4pm and 6-8pm at Stephen Brady Funeral Home 920 Cedar Avenue Pitts. PA. 15212.  A Catholic Funeral Mass will be held at St. Peters Church, 720 Arch St., Pittsburgh, PA 15212 at 10:30am on Wednesday April 2, 2025.  Burial will follow at St Michaels Cemetery, 2729 South 18th Street, Pittsburgh, PA 15210. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Team 412 Boxing, (www.412boxing.com/donate), something Bernadette cared deeply about.
Although she is no longer with us, Bernadette’s memory will live on through the stories we share, the laughter she inspired, and the adventures she took us on both near and far. Rest in peace, Bernadette. You will always be remembered with love and gratitude.
