Anna Seeke Obituary

Anna Marie Seeke, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother,aunt,cousin,and friend, passed away peacefully on June 7, 2025, at the age of 86.

Born on December 18, 1938, at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, she was the second of six children to Samuel W. Gray and Helen (Martinak) Gray. She spent most of her childhood on the Lower North Side and attended Saint Wenceslaus and Saint Benedict's schools. Her first job was at GC Murphy's, where she earned 75 cents an hour—a memory she fondly recalled.

At 16, she met the love of her life, Al, and accompanied him to prom. In 1958, she watched him join the U.S. Navy. Two years later, on March 12, 1960, they were married in California and began their life together in Monterey. That day marked the beginning of her journey as a proud Navy wife.

Throughout Al's Navy career, she stood faithfully by his side through duty tours across the country and abroad-including Point Mugu Missile Test Center, Norfolk, Guam, and Rota, Spain. During their time in Guam, she worked closely with wounded service members at the hospital, always trying to bring them comfort and a smile. During the Vietnam War, she also held numerous leadership roles in Navy support groups, including president, vice president, and secretary.

Together, they raised two children—Albert III ("Bud") and Roxanne-and created a home full of love and adventure. She often said her life was complete with her family and the man she treasured.

After Al's retirement in 1977, the family returned home. While leaving their Navy life behind was bittersweet, it meant reuniting with loved ones. She and Al shared 53 years of marriage and 57 years together until his passing in 2013—a loss she deeply felt but carried with strength and grace.

She is survived by her children, Albert "Bud" and Roxanne (husband Rick); her grandchildren Richie, Albert IV, and Samantha; and her great-grandson, Alex. She also lovingly considered Beth and Kathleen as her "adopted children." A lifelong friend, Kathy, whom she met in 1978, remained a steady and cherished presence in her life.

In addition to her love for family and service, she treasured the time she spent at her beloved camp in Butler, Pennsylvania. It was a place of peace, joy, and countless cherished memories shared with dear friends. She was also a proud member of the Allegheny Elks Lodge, where she and her husband Al were active for many years. She made history as the first women Elk to join the club and later ran a bowling league there, bringing together close friends and family for fun, laughter, and friendly competition — something she always deeply valued.

She leaves behind a legacy of devotion, service, and resilience. Her love for her family, her community, and everyone around her will never be forgotten.

A visitation Friday 2-7pm and with Elks service 5:30pm and Catholic Blessing service 6pm to honor her life will be at Stephen M. Brady Funeral Home Inc. 920 Cedar Ave., Pittsburgh PA 15212.
