Aristoula Selevos Obituary

ARISTOULA N. SELEVOS
Aristoula N. Selevos, who was 95 years old, formerly of the North Side of Pittsburgh, PA, passed away peacefully in her sleep on Wednesday, March 14, 2018, in Cherry Hill, New Jersey. Toula, as she was known to all who loved her, was preceded in death by her parents, John and Ourania Kostoulas, and her sisters, Polixeni Grossa, Eleni Safaka; brothers, Basil, Achilleas, George and Eleftheri, who all resided in Greece. Toula was also preceded in death by her loving husband, Nicholas Selevos; and her son, Harry Selevos. Toula was known by all of Pittsburgh for her famous restaurant, Toula's Hot Dogs that served the best chili dogs to customers not only on the North Side but throughout the city. Toula started the restaurant in 1972 and continued to work there for over 20 years until due to health issues she had to retire from her beloved restaurant. She would go to work at 3 a.m. every day, rain or shine and after work would go home and tend to her garden, cook for her family and help to raise her grandchildren. Toula was a wonderful mother and grandmother and an inspiration to all who knew her. Starting in early November every year, Toula would begin baking hundreds of Greek pastries for the coming holidays that she would give to family and friends to enjoy. Toula was born in Robates, Greece and came to the United States in 1952 to begin her life as the wife of Nicholas Selevos whom she had married in Greece. Together they raised Harry and Agatha until her beloved husband passed away in 1966. Toula is survived by her daughter, Agatha N. Fagan of Mount Laurel, NJ; and four grandchildren, Constantine N. Kamtsios of Pittsburgh, PA, Kristen A. Fagan Speer of Bellingham, Washington, and Nicholas and Aristoula Selevos of Greece; her loving niece, Sandy Bain of Baden, PA and loving nephew, Steve Billis of St. Louis, Missouri; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Greece. In the last years of her life, Toula resided in Barclay's Nursing Home in Cherry Hill, NJ where she was an avid bingo player and churchgoer. On behalf of Toula's family, a very warm and heartfelt thank you goes out to the staff of Barclay's for their outstanding care, support and comfort. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. - Noon, Wednesday, March 21, 2018, at the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Church located at 985 Providence Blvd., Pgh., PA 15237 to be followed by a Funeral Mass and a burial in the Holy Trinity Greek Orthodox Cemetery located in Pgh., PA 15237.
